ALEX LOUISON

Duathletin, triathlete and Ironman winner (2007)

What has been your credo in life that helps you overcome each challenge?

Never throw in the towel, persevere, do what it takes to achieve your aims and to realise your dreams... Give it your all right until the end so that you don’t have any regrets.

Can you share some of your training tips to perform better?

Put everything in place in order to succeed: serious effort in training of course, but also a good healthy lifestyle (recovery, food and nutrition, social/family life balance). In my opinion the most important thing is to never have any regrets, to always have the feeling of having done everything possible in order to succeed.... and if the result is there at the end, the joy you will feel will be even more intense! Any aim is achievable if you do whatever it takes.

What advantages or benefits has the COMPEX Wireless brought to your performance?

The WIRELESS is incredibly practical. There are no longer any wires which can get tangled up, it is more comfortable. I really appreciate the data such as the warm-up duration or the number of contractions remaining being on the new device.
And also the casing looks great, it’s a really nice little gem! I advise you to make sure that you recharge it after every use so that you don’t have the nasty little surprise of an uncharged electrode when you want to use it next. For recovery, I have always used the COMPEX since I began practising my sport and I am convinced of its benefits. By increasing the blood flow, the  electrostimulation is going to enable the accumulated lactic acid to be dispersed and to prevent injuries too. Physiotherapists have been using it for a long time, and not without reason... It relieves pain and provides a real benefit. I have been including it in my training sessions this season and, sincerely, I can already see the benefits... I can assure you that this is not a gadget, but a real supplement to training!

What are your preferred programmes and when do you use them?

I love all the massage programmes: relaxing, anti-stress and regenerating. When I have aches in my legs, the "Heavy legs" programme gives me immediate relief. But the best programme is "Capillarization". I use all these programmes in recovery after training to soothe the muscular pain and in order to move on to difficult sessions as of the next day. As for the "Capillarization" programme, I use it before and after training: before in order to prepare the muscles for the stress and after in order to recover and to activate blood circulation.

As regards training programmes, I wouldn’t use the term “preferred”, because they hurt my legs ;-)!!!! But if there was a simple and pain-free way to progress, then I’d be the first to know about it! However I would say that my “favourite” programmes in terms of performance are "Endurance" and "Resistance".

What is your ultimate goal in your career?

I am looking to gain muscle power as that is what I am currently lacking in order to progress. In this quest for performance, the COMPEX has a vital part in my training.

My ultimate goal in terms of sport?

To progress... and to win good races :-)!
